Rasikh Salam is just 24 years old, but he has been around the Indian cricketing circles for quite a long time. Injuries have halted his progress, but he is a talent that can serve India for a long time and with fitness on his side now, the bowler has impressed in the ongoing Emerging Asia Cup.
In the semifinal of the tournament between India A and Afghanistan A, he was the only Indian bowler who showed character under pressure and gave away just 25 runs in his four overs while taking three crucial wickets at the backend. Out of the three, two came off the consecutive deliveries.
Rasikh Salam Impresses On A Flat Deck
The first of those was of Sediqullah Atal who played a brilliant knock of 83 off 52 balls. He lost his wicket, because he went across to his left, a bit early, Rasikh Salam saw it and bowled a full delivery on leg. The batter tried to sweep the ball, but missed it and the ball hit the timber.
On the next delivery, Afghanistan A's skipper Darwish Rasooli chopped on a short-of-a-length delivery onto his stumps. It was bowled slower, and outside off from 'round the wicket and the right-handed Rasooli failed to get proper connection.
Afghanistan A still manage to reach 206, but they were looking good for a lot more, and it was only because of Rasikh Salam's effort that India went into the second half with some sort of chance.
