On Sunday, September 15, the second round of Duleep Trophy 2024 came to an end. India B and India C played out a draw, while India A registered a comfortable 186 runs over India D. After two matches for each team, India C are on top of the table with 9 points, while Shreyas Iyer-led India D are on the bottom of the table.

There have been some phenomenal performances this season and this article will shed light on three players who can earn an India call-up based on their Duleep Trophy heroics.

1 . Musheer Khan

Musheer, the younger brother of Sarfaraz Khan, set the Duleep Trophy on fire as he smashed a century on his debut. The Indian team are looking for players in the middle order. While his elder brother is trying to cement his place in the Indian set-up, Musheer has also knocked selector's door with his impressive Duleep Trophy outing. He could possibly a replacement for KL Rahul in the future.

In the first match, Musheer scored 181 (373). More than the century, Musheer played that knock when the team were struggling and had lost five quick wickets. He played a sensible knock that turned the course of the match and eventually helped B win by 76 runs.

Further, Musheer can bowl and even rolled his arms twice in the Duleep Trophy and also took a solitary wicket. Meanwhile, he has also made it to the news for his fielding skills.

2. Tanush Kotian

India A star who has been making the buzz for his sensational performance in the domestic set-up is Tanush Kotian. The right-handed all-rounder scored a fifty in his latest outing against India D which helped India A register a big win over India D.

Further, Kotian has taken six wickets in the two games and his game resembles a lot like Ravindra Jadeja. Notably, Jadeja, who has retired from T20Is and is slightly out of favour in ODIs, is towards the business end of his career. Thus, the BCCI should look for Jadeja's backup and Kotian fits the best.

3. Abhimanyu Easwaran

India have a plethora of options for the opening slot, but India B captain Abhimanyu Easwaran is knocking hard on selectors' doors with his scintillating display in domestic cricket.

The 29-year-old played an unbeaten knock of 157 (286) against India C. Thus, BCCI can back Abhimanyu as Rohit Sharma's future replacement at the top for India.

It is worth noting that Easwaran was in the selector's mind as Rohit's possible future replacement as they named him in India's squad for Bangladesh tour in 2022 for the first Test after Rohit failed to recover in time from the thumb injury.
