England are under criticism after their embarrassing defeat against India in the recently concluded five-match T20I series. Now, the focus has shifted towards the ODIs as the Three Lions will take on India for a three-match ODI series starting from February 6.

The upcoming series will act as a trial ground for Champions Trophy 2025, which starts on February 19 in Pakistan and UAE. Meanwhile, this article will shed light on three areas England need to work on ahead of the prestigious event.

1. More Runs From The Middle-Order

England have had a troublesome past two years in the ODIs as they have undergone a transition, and results have not gone in their favours. Talking about their middle order, they have Liam Livingstone, Jacob Bethell, Jos Buttler, Harry Brook, and Jamie Overton.

What is happening is that either runs are flowing in big numbers or there is a collapse, resulting in a low score. Thus, England would look for more stability in the middle order and not repeat the woes of the 2023 World Cup.

2. Lack Of Frontline Spinners In The Team

England have Adil Rashid, who would be crucial for the Three Lions in the subcontinent. However, he is low on confidence after giving away the most runs by a spinner for England vs India in a T20I series.

Besides Rashid, England have Jacob Bethell and Liam Livingstone, who can bowl overs of spin. However, they aren't frontline spinners, and this is one where England are struggling for years.

3. Injury Concerns For Pacers

Similar to South African seamers, England are also sweating hard on their seamers' fitness. They have Jofra Archer and Mark Wood, who are breathing fire but also have a injury concern alongside them.

Both seamers have suffered big injuries in the recent past and that has kept them out of action for long time. Thus, England would hope for them to be fit for the entire Champions Trophy and manage their workload.
