On Monday, Cricket Australia held their annual awards, where several top stars attended the ceremony. Meanwhile, Mitchell Marsh, who won last year's Allan Border Medal, too graced his presence and hogged the limelight for his Jasprit Bumrah gig.

Notably, the hosts went towards Marsh for a small conversation, and the Australia star all-rounder was in a fun mood. It is worth noting that Marsh failed to replicate his 2023-24 performance last season and was in fact dropped from the team in the last Test against India.

Marsh Talks about Bumrah

The context was that Marsh got out to Bumrah on several occasions in BGT and which is why the hosts decided to have some fun around that. : “It must’ve been really nice to have a full summer facing Bumrah and then watch the boys go to Sri Lanka and score a million,” asked the host.

“Yeah look, if there’s one wicket I needed, it was probably that Galle wicket. Actually my little nephew Ted, he’s four years old, we played backyard cricket the other day. He came in with (Jasprit) Bumrah’s action, and the nightmare continued,” Marsh remarked.

Asked about the year, Marsh explained: “It’s been incredible, really ... capped off by the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, and the way the boys played especially with 10 players, without me. They did really well.”

It is worth noting that Marsh has been ruled out of Champions Trophy 2025 because of a back injury. Further, talking about Bumrah, he too is facing a race against time to get fit in time for Champions Trophy 2025.

Travis Head Wins The Allan Border Medal For 2024-2025 Season

In the ongoing awards ceremony, star batter Travis Head has bagged the top medal and was honoured with the Allan Border Medal. Head had a remarkable 2024 as he amassed 1399 in 29 matches. Head was also nominated for ICC Test cricketer of the year award.

Head has also started 2025 on a high as he scored a brilliant 50+ plus score in the first innings of first Test vs Sri Lanka.
