England cricket team manager Rob Key has provided a significant update regarding the comeback of English pacer Jofra Archer. Archer, who has been sidelined due to injury for some time, is aiming to make his return for the T20 World Cup in June. However, Jofra Archer won't be playing Test cricket this year.

Archer has been absent from cricket since last May when he was playing in the IPL with the Mumbai Indians. After a year-long break and recovery, Archer is set to make his comeback during the home series against Pakistan next month, according to statements from Rob Key, but the real target would be to play T20 World Cup in June.

Jofra Archer was in Barbados for recovery, where he was born and began his cricketing journey. Reports suggest that Archer's recovery is progressing well.

Mumbai Indians moved on from Archer

Mumbai Indians placed significant trust in Jofra Archer during the mega auction, despite his absence for that season. However, this investment compromised their team balance, contributing to a disappointing 2022 season.

Despite Archer's limited appearances in 2023, he struggled to regain top form and suffered another injury, which increased the team's challenges. Consequently, Mumbai Indians opted to part ways with Archer in the IPL mini auction of 2023, focusing on acquiring fresh talent in the pace department.

While Archer's fitness is improving, Mumbai's decision suggests they've moved on. Mumbai had signed Gerald Coetzee as Archer's replacement.  Whether Mumbai Indians will reconsider acquiring him in future auctions remains uncertain and will be worth observing.
