India wrapped up their T20I series against England with a dominant 4-1 victory, sealing it in style with a massive 150-run win in Mumbai. The highlight of the match was Abhishek Sharma's explosive knock of 135 runs off just 54 balls, along with his contribution with the ball. However, what caught everyone's attention post-match was head coach Gautam Gambhir's witty response to the concussion substitute controversy from the fourth T20I in Pune.

During the fourth T20I in Pune, India replaced all-rounder Shivam Dube with seamer Harshit Rana as a concussion substitute. This decision did not sit well with England captain Jos Buttler, who openly expressed his disagreement. Buttler sarcastically remarked in the post-match press conference,

“Either Shivam Dube has put on about 25mph with the ball or Harshit’s really improved his batting. It’s part of the game and we really should have gone on to win the match, but we disagree with the decision.”

Adding to the banter, Buttler had his own light-hearted moment at the toss before the fifth T20I in Mumbai. While announcing England’s playing XI, he jokingly mentioned four "impact substitutes," including Rehan Ahmed, Saqib Mahmood, Jamie Smith, and Gus Atkinson.

Gambhir’s Witty Response To Concussion Sub Controversy

After India's emphatic win in the final T20I, former cricketer and commentator Kevin Pietersen questioned Gambhir about the concussion substitute debate. In response, Gambhir, known for his sharp wit, simply said,

"He would have bowled four overs for sure today."

His comment was a clear jab at Buttler’s remarks, suggesting that Dube’s contribution wouldn’t have been in question had he played in the final match.

Despite the controversy, Shivam Dube played a crucial role in India's bowling attack during the fifth T20I. With India going in with only Mohammad Shami as a frontline pacer, Dube stepped up impressively. He took two wickets in his two-over spell, dismissing Phil Salt and Jacob Bethell in the first ball of both his overs.

His figures of 2-0-11-2 contributed to England's collapse, as they were bowled out for just 97 runs while chasing a massive 248-run target.
