Why Bumrah should skip IPL 2025 [Source: @LoyalSachinFan/X.com]
The inevitable has happened and Mumbai Indians spearhead, Jasprit Bumrah is set to miss more matches in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. He suffered a back injury during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and also missed the Champions Trophy 2025 which India won recently.
As per latest ESPNCricinfo report, Bumrah won't be available for the upcoming LSG and RCB matches, but could be there for the remainder of the series, subject to fitness clearance. However, there is a concrete reason as to why the star pacer should miss the IPL 2025 season, even if he gets fit for the tournament.
Nation over money!
After the IPL, India are set to tour England for a 5-match Test series and this will mark the start of India's new World Test Championship (WTC). The last WTC was not good for Team India as they failed to reach the finals. However, to do well this cycle, the team needs Bunrah back in the side.
He has been India's best Test bowler since his debut and without him, the bowling attack looks bleak. Hence, to prepare for the England series, he should skip the IPL, which doesn't hold much of an importance for him.
Bumrah's outstanding Test stats for India
In Tests, there is Bumrah, there is daylight and there are others in the Indian setup. This statement was true during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, where the Indian bowlers failed to deliver and Bumrah stood tall.

Bumrah in line for Test captaincy
Jasprit Bumrah is also in line to become the next Test captain if Rohit Sharma steps down. However, the team management will be worried to replace Rohit with an injury prone player as their captain. If Bumrah wants to be the next Test skipper, and wants to prolong his career, then he should skip IPL and work on his fitness. He had the ambition to lead India, but that wil only be fulfilled if BCCI feels Bumrah is injury free to lead the side.
