Team India’s robust run in the ongoing World Cup edition has been a major talking point for many fans and pundits around the world. The two-time champions are the only team to remain unbeaten in this tournament, exhibiting no apparent signs of weakness. They have stoked an unprecedented amount of fear in the minds of several top-ranked oppositions by playing a dominant brand of cricket.

As the Men in Blue continue to dazzle the cricketing fraternity with their impressive performance, there have been numerous discussions around whether the home side has been gaining an unfair advantage by preparing tailor-made pitches for themselves. Former Pakistani captain Salman Butt responded to these claims in his latest Youtube Video and termed these allegations as “baseless”.

Butt was of the opinion that fans and experts should not base India’s success solely around the use of advantageous pitches and further added that the team has consistently played well across several venues in India that offer varying conditions to the participating teams.

"You can't stop people from saying such things. But they (India) are playing on different grounds. They haven't played two matches at the same venue. They have done well on both red and black soil. They have performed in all kinds of conditions. There's no point in discussing such baseless things. They are winning everything because they are playing the best cricket."

During the same video, Butt also expressed how the expectations of the fans may see a dramatic shift as India makes their way to the semi-final round. Currently, India maintains an astonishing eight-match winning streak and are placed at the top of the table with a jaw-dropping NRR of 2.456. Butt believes that the weight of these expectations will burden the home side once they start competing in the knockout phase of the tournament.

India are poised to take on the Netherlands in their last league game on November 12 in Bangalore. At this point, there is some degree of uncertainty around who India will be facing in the semi-final round.
