Ravindra Jadeja’s invaluable contribution with the bat and the ball has been instrumental as India continues to maintain their unassailable winning streak of eight consecutive wins in the ongoing tournament. Although most of the spotlight has been on India’s top order and pace battery, Jadeja has quietly demonstrated his worth as a valuable all-rounder to the team.

He was hardly utilized in the first four games, but as they progressed to the business end of the tournament, Jadeja’s skill became visible as he flourished consistently with the bat and the ball. With the bat in hand, Jadeja notched up four crucial cameos of 39*, 35, and 29* against New Zealand, Sri Lanka, and South Africa giving his side a powerful finish towards the backend of the innings.

Furthermore, he also registered 14 wickets to his name in the last four games which includes his best figures of 5/33 in nine overs that completely derailed South Africa at Eden Gardens last Sunday. The 34-year-old bowling all-rounder exhibited his all-round abilities against South Africa where his quickfire cameo of 29* (15) which involved one six and three fours to propel India to a strong total of 326-5 in their allotted 50 overs.

He was not done yet as he once again came back in action during the second innings and went through the defenses of an explosive Proteas batting order, skittling them for just 83 with his destructive figures of 5/33.

In the post-match press conference, the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma showered a lot of praise on the highly experienced all-rounder and considered him one of the most prized assets for the side.

"He knows his role and knows what the expectations are from him. Jadeja has been good for us. Playing in every format over the years. Today was a classic case as to what Jadeja is for us. He came out at the death and scored vital runs and then picked up wickets."

India are waiting in readiness to take on the Dutch on November 12th at Bangalore. Following his heroic all-round effort against South Africa on Sunday, Jadeja will certainly be the man in focus as the Men in Blue continue to progress further into the tournament
