'Would Love Nothing More...,' - SCG Pitch Curator On David Warner's Farewell Test vs PAK

In June 2023, the Australian southpaw David Warner announced that the Sydney Test of the Pakistan series would be his last Test match. Warner has been nothing short of an impeccable contributor to Australian cricket in all three formats of the game. As he bids farewell to Test cricket and gets the opportunity to play his last Test at his home ground, the pitch curator hails the left-hander and looks forward to seeing him perform in the last Test.

Despite all the criticism Warner has faced over his place in the longest format, he has amassed 8695 runs in 111 Test appearances while donning the whites for the Aussies. He stands on the fifth spot behind Ricky Ponting, Allan Border, Steve Waugh and Steve Smith when it comes to scoring the most runs in the longest format for Australia.

The pitch curator, Adam Lewis told the Sydney Morning Herald that Warner looks after the curators and the whole staff and acknowledges the hard work we put in. He treats us like a family and our team wants nothing but to see him perform well in his farewell Test.

Here's what the Pitch Curator said about the Australian opener, David Warner:

"We really have a lot of time for David Warner. He really looks after the curators around Australia. And he's gone into bat for us a lot of the time. He knows what we go through, and he knows how tough it is. We've got a lot of respect for him. I know my whole team here would love nothing more than to see him get a hundred in his last Test. That would be great."

Slamming the mouths of his critics, David Warner smashed a match-winning hundred in the first Test of the series and got back in the groove. Although he couldn't get going in the Boxing Day Test, he has a great record at his home ground, as he averages 82 and has scored 793 runs in just 11 games, including four hundreds.
