Pakistan cricket team is currently touring Australia to feature in a high-voltage three-game test series. While the hosts have sealed the series victory by 2-0, the visitors' pride is at stake as they boarded a flight to Sydney earlier today for the third and final test of the bilateral series.

However, in an interesting twist in the tale, Pakistan's newly appointed Director of Cricket and head coach for this particular tour, Mohammad Hafeez's name was missing from the manifest list.

Pakistan's local news channel Geo News first broke that Hafeez, traveling with his wife, Nazia, missed the flight as they failed to board the airplane on time.

Mohammad Hafeez, Wife Misses Flight To Sydney Over Coffee

Apparently, the couple arrived at Melbourne airport on time and were supposed to travel with the Pakistan team. However, as they sipped a cup of coffee in the lounge, Mohammad Hafeez failed to check the time of the flight, and authorities subsequently disallowed them to board since the boarding deadline had already passed when they finally came to senses.

Fortunately, Hafeez and his wife took the next available flight to Sydney and reached their destination later.

That being said, the incident came to light just days after the former Pakistan captain introduced strict code of conduct laws for its players. Hafeez has decided to impose a fine on players who are caught sleeping or yawning in the dressing room.

Apparently, Hafeez wants to instill a sense of discipline and professionalism amongst the current groups of cricketers to ensure success in the future.

However, the director of Pakistan Cricket's failure to abide by the same code of conduct will surely reflect badly on the country's cricketing culture.

Having said that, neither the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) nor Mohammad Hafeez has yet reacted to the entire matter. The authorities have decided to maintain silence until they hear from Hafeez privately.

Pakistan is scheduled to square off with Australia in the third and final test of the series at Sydney Cricket Ground beginning on 3rd January 2024.
