After losing six of their eight matches, Chennai Super Kings (CSK)'s head coach, Stephen Fleming, is still hopeful of them qualifying for the playoffs. In the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, the Chennai Super Kings are on a thin string, with six victories required in the last six games, failing which, they could end up getting eliminated.
Stephen Fleming Gathers Inspiration From RCB's 2024 Campaign
CSK's head coach, Stephen Fleming, is still hopeful that the side can qualify for the playoffs, as they can pull a miraculous show with six out of six wins in their remaining matches.
Fleming believes that they can do something similar to what Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) pulled off last year, as they won a string of matches in the last leg to qualify for the playoffs, as they beat CSK in the final group stage match by 27 runs.
Speaking during the press conference, Fleming is pretty much hopeful of turning things around in this year's IPL, as he believes that his side still has a chance with six matches remaining.
"We're still hopeful of winning 6 out of 6, and some will giggle at that but RCB set a blueprint for that the year before. So while there's still a chance, we have one eye on making sure that we think the best players for this game coming up will play, but we're also aware that if it doesn't work out, that we've got to make the most of what has been a poor season."
However, despite giving a rather hopeful statement, Fleming was modest on the fact that if they don't end up qualifying, they can still finalize a team for the future, something which the stand-in skipper, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, echoed during his post-match presentations previously.
CSK's IPL 2025 Campaign
The Chennai-based side have had a rather poor season, with six losses so far in their eight matches and are at the right bottom of the table, with just four points and a net run rate of -1.392.
They are coming off a heavy loss against Mumbai Indians by nine wickets and will now be up against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) side on April 25th at their home in MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. For the fact, Hyderabad are having similar standings with two wins in just eight matches and are at the ninth position on the table.
