The big day for all IPL fans has arrived as the tournament enters the playoffs. The Royal Challengers Bengaluru is set to take on the Punjab Kings in Qualifier 1, and the excitement is already running high.
As both sides are ready for the thrilling clash, RCB’s director of cricket, Mo Bobat, expressed his excitement for the clash. He believes RCB can draw confidence from their previous triumph over Shreyas Iyer-led PBKS at this venue.
Challenges Will Be Bigger In The Playoffs
After completing the group stage on high, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings have secured their places in Qualifier 1. Eyeing their maiden IPL trophies, both teams are set to bring out their best.
Ahead of the clash with Shreyas Iyer’s side, RCB’s director of cricket, Mo Bobat, shared his excitement, noting that while their win over LSG was a boost, the playoffs bring even tougher challenges.
“It feels a little dissatisfying since you can’t really enjoy the win. But that’s the reality of the schedule. The boys put a lot into it in the last game, and the group phase of the competition. But the reality is that know it’s the knockout stages and you got to be ready for that,” Bobat said in a media release.
Bobat Sees Past Win As RCB's Key Motivation
Before locking horns in Qualifier 1, RCB and Punjab Kings had shared one win each in their two earlier encounters. But in the last clash, RCB defeated the Punjab Kings by 7 wickets while chasing 158 runs. With the big clash set at the same venue, Mo Bobat believes that victory can serve as the perfect source of inspiration for RCB.
“We are playing Punjab Kings in Qualifier 1, and they are a good side, that’s playing good cricket. So I am really looking forward to the game. The thing that is encouraging for us is that we have played Punjab Kings, at that venue, on that surface and we have had success there, so the team will take confidence from that,” he added.
After a stellar group stage run, both teams have stormed into the playoffs with 19 points each from 14 matches. As it is the 18th season of the tournament, both are chasing their maiden IPL trophy. As they are set to light up Qualifier 1, fans are hoping for some unmissable cricket action.
