The pressure of an IPL playoff game did not stop Mumbai Indians (MI) from sharing a few laughs during their training session ahead of the IPL 2025 Eliminator. In the viral video, Trent Boult left his teammates in splits with a hilarious attempt to mimic the bowling action of Mitchell Santner.

The light-hearted moment took place during MI’s practice at Mullanpur, where the team is gearing up for a do-or-die clash against GT.

Trent Boult Channels His Inner Santner

Trent Boult known for his devastating left-arm pace switched roles and tried his hand at spin, imitating Santner’s smooth orthodox bowling style. The result, however, was far from accurate as the ball drifted comically off target.

Watching from the sidelines, star pacer Jasprit Bumrah could not resist and made a funny comment: "That's why we should stick to fast bowling." The cheeky remark drew laughter from teammates and coaching staff present there. 

Trent Boult MI’s Key Weapon In IPL 2025

It is important to mention that Trent Boult remains one of MI’s most crucial players this season. After returning to the franchise in the IPL 2025 mega auction for a whopping INR 12.5 crore*, Boult has lived up to expectations.

This season the star bowler has taken 19 wickets in 14 matches he has played so far with an economy rate of 8.31. 

Boult’s ability to strike early in the powerplay will be central to MI’s chances against the Gujarat Titans. He has often delivered under pressure, especially in playoffs, and is among the top three wicket-takers of the season.

It is important to note that MI will face GT in the must-win match on Friday (May 30) at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium (New PCA Stadium) in Mullanpur, New Chandigarh. MI will be banking on their experienced campaigners including Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult, and skipper Hardik Pandya to deliver in the crunch Eliminator.
