'Will Not Leave You' -GT Coach Warns KKR Regarding Rinku Singh Ahead Of IPL Auctions

Rinku Singh showcased his class during India’s first T20I clash against Australia in Visakhapatnam helping the Blues chase down a mammoth total of 209 in an intense run-chase.

With only a run needed in the final ball of the match, Rinku hit the winning runs by dispatching Abbott down the ground for a six. However, a no-ball check revealed that Abbott had overstepped and the six was eventually disallowed.

Nevertheless, Rinku’s pivotal cameo of 22* (14) came at a time when India started losing their way in the backend of the run chase. Rinku acted as a glue and held the Indian innings together when wickets kept tumbling around him. But his calm and composed temperament allowed India to prevail over the six-time World Cup Champions which also eased the wounds of the disastrous World Cup final.

Following India’s triumphant victory in the first T20I match, reputed figures from the cricketing fraternity lauded Rinku’s heroic contribution with the bat. Whilst speaking to JioCinema, Rinku was pleased with his efforts and was glad to see India get over the line. However, GT head coach Ashish Nehra believes that the swashbuckling left-handed batter does not require any scouts.

Nehra explains that Rinku has proven his worth time and again on the grand stage. Hence he backs KKR to retain him ahead of the 2024 IPL season but if that does not materialize then the remaining nine franchises will certainly look to secure his services.

“Now he doesn’t need any scouts. He has arrived where he should be (on the big stage). When you come in this circle, then all other people just watch you from outside. No matter what scout, KKR will not leave you. I really want them to retain you, but If they don’t, then the remaining 9 teams will not leave you in the IPL Auction.”

India are slated to take on Australia in the second T20I match on Sunday at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. Rinku Singh will once again be the man in focus who is currently in the midst of some fine form.
