As the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season approaches, speculation, and strategies are already making the rounds, especially regarding the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) lineup and their iconic leader, MS Dhoni.

Following a year marred by a knee injury, which saw him facing just 57 deliveries across 12 innings but with a striking strike rate of 182.45, Dhoni is back in the spotlight.

The CSK skipper, who underwent knee surgery post-IPL 2023, has fully recovered, reigniting excitement among fans with his recent appearance at Chepauk Stadium.

Former India opener and cricket analyst Aakash Chopra shared insights into CSK's potential strategy for the upcoming season, particularly focusing on Dhoni's role.

“They never stop building. They're not a team that bursts into big shots with a batting lineup heavy on the top. Dhoni's approach to cricket is to go deep into the match and then execute a strong finish. Since this team always strives to finish, it is crucial that they do so”, according to Chopra.

He further hinted at a significant change, "MS Dhoni might himself come to bat up the order this time because the knee is better."

Chopra's analysis aligns with the buzz among fans and Dhoni's own hints on social media regarding a new role and plans for the season. With the absence of opener Devon Conway, Dhoni might move up the batting order and could fill a crucial gap, offering CSK a strategic advantage.

At 42, Dhoni, a five-time IPL winner and one of the league's most successful captains, shows no signs of slowing down. His leadership and performance will be pivotal as CSK begins their title defense against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on March 22.
