The cricket world is gearing up for the upcoming Champions Trophy and Team India is all set to take on England in their final ODI assignment before the marquee event. But before that, Virat Kohli’s run drought has become a huge concern for the side as the Indian great is struggling with his rhythm.
Amidst the struggle, Kohli is receiving a lot of criticism regarding his off-form. Recently, the former Sri Lankan captain made a bold call about King Kohli, asserting that Kohli alone will determine his future.
Ranatunga’s Bold Call On Virat Kohli
Team India is on their last stage rehearsal before the Champions Trophy, and Virat Kohli’s struggle is still going on. After missing the first ODI of the ongoing ODI series against England, he came back in the second game but the struggle remained the same. The former Indian captain departed scoring only 5 runs. After that, he faced some harsh criticism. In that situation, the former Sri Lankan captain Arjuna Ranatunga made a big remark about Kohli.
“For a player like Virat Kohli who has scored so much of runs, I feel it's best if that's left to him. It's a call that Kohli needs to take, so let him take it. Why always have the spotlight on him? It's quite unnecessary.” Ranatunga said.
Kohli’s Final Chance In Ahmedabad Before The Champions Trophy
Virat Kohli has been going through a tough time in his career lately. After a brilliant century in Perth in November 2024, the Indian star has been dealing with inconsistent performance. His difficulty with balls outside off stump has raised concerns, and his issues against spin bowling have also come to light.
After missing the first ODI against England due to a knee injury, Kohli returned in the second ODI and departed scoring only 5 runs. A brilliant delivery from Adil Rashid saw him fall yet again to the spinners. With the final ODI of the series looming, this is Kohli's last shot to find his prime form ahead of the Champions Trophy. Fans are eagerly waiting for a ‘King Kohli Show’ again.
