Delhi Capitals will kickstart their IPL 2025 campaign on Monday, March 24, when they take on Lucknow Super Giants in their season opener match. Most of the group has assembled in Delhi and are flying to Vigaz to prepare for the 2025 edition.
DC have roped in several great stars for the upcoming edition like KL Rahul, Mitchell Starc, and Faf du Plessis. However, the Capitals would still rely on the players whom they retained. Talking about their retentions, then Tristan Stubbs is one player to watch out for going into IPL 2025. This article will shed light on why Stubbs is a force to be reckoned with for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2025.
New finisher in town for DC?
Over the past three years, the lower middle order has been a big issue for the Capitals. The lacked a genuine power hitter to add those 20-30 extra runs towards the end and a finisher to seal the win for them. However, Stubbs showed glimpses of his potential in 2024 when he played that finisher's role and had small cameos to put DC in a comfortable situation.
Talking about his performance in IPL 2024, he amassed 378 runs in 13 innings and averaged 54, batting at no. 5 and no.6 for the Capitals. Stubbs had five fourty-plus scores in the previous season, and all of them came at a quick rate.

Findings From Stubbs' IPL 2024 Season
If we look at Stubbs' performance in IPL 2024, then there are several positives for Delhi Capitals going into IPL 2025.
1.Consistency- If you look at Stubbs' performance, then despite donning the finisher's role, which gives you a license to lose your arms. However, it involves a risk of getting out and not score big. But for Stubbs, he scored runs in 8 out of 14 matches. Not just scored runs, but scored big as he has six-fourty plus scores in IPL 2024.
2.Score Against Big Teams- DC have struggled over the years to find a player who can shine against top teams. They do perform against the underdogs but usually surrender against top teams like CSK, MI, RCB, and KKR. However, if you look at Stubbs' performance, then two of his fifties came against MI and KKR, which is a big positive.
3.Strike-Rate- One more crucial thing for a finisher is to score runs at a faster rate. Getting a fifty or a hundred doesn't matter, but to have a strike-rate over 150 is something what a team asks for. Looking at Stubbs' stats, he had three games where he played with a 200+ strike-rate and also one match where he batted with a strike rate of 371.
