And the revenge has been taken. The Dubai International Stadium witnessed the high-voltage semifinal 1 between India and Australia, where the ‘Men in Blue’ snatched the game from the Aussies. With this dominant performance, Team India stormed into the grand finale of the Champions Trophy 2025.

While chasing the 265-run target, Kohli’s brilliance shone again as his 84-run innings set the stage for India’s victory. His match-winning effort earned him the Player of the Match award, and he shared his thoughts after the game.

Kohli’s Words After The Brilliant Knock

The run chase brings out the best out of Virat Kohli, and hence, the fact is proved. Standing on a crunch situation, he anchored India’s innings and paved the way towards the win with a stellar knock of 84 runs in 98 deliveries. For his match-winning effort, he bagged yet another Player of the Match award and shared his thoughts on the memorable performance.

“I think it was pretty similar to the other game against Pakistan. I hit about only 7 fours in that 100. My only effort that day and today was about to string a few partnerships.” Kohli said.

Kohli On The Game Plan

After having a decent start, chasing the 265-run target was not looking easy as Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill lost their wickets early. Standing on that point, Kohli built three impactful partnerships with Shreyas Iyer, Axar Patel, and KL Rahul. With some quick singles and some big hits, Kohli guided Team India towards the win. After the victory, he revealed the gameplan.

“It is all dependent on the pitch. Accordingly, I plan and play my innings. As a batter, you take pride in hitting the gaps and finding the singles. It is about understanding the conditions and rotating the strike because partnerships on these pitches are essential. My timing and my composure at the crease were pleasing for me. I didn't feel rushed. The singles that I took were the most pleasing part for me.” Kohli said.

“This game was all about handling the pressure. If you go deep into the game, the opposition usually gives in. It is important to control your impulses and nerves. Even if the required run rate is six per over, I am not bothered about it. I back myself,” he added.

Is It Kohli’s Best Innings?

After smashing an exceptional ton against Pakistan, Kohli’s bat remained quite against New Zealand. But in the Team’s need, Kohli’s bat was raised on high against Australia as the chase master played a responsible knock of 84-runs and propelled the team towards the final. But was this Kohli’s best innings? Well, the King left it to the viewers.

“I don't know whether this is my best innings. I have said it before as well. It is for you guys to decide. You guys sit and break it down. I have never focused on those things. When you don't think of those milestones, they happen. They are the parts of the game. If I get to the three-figure mark, it is great, but the win is important. For me, those things don't matter anymore. Thank you," he said.

After the nail-biting victory, Team India is standing in front of the bigger challenge. After entering into the final clash, Team India is waiting for the other finalist. The cricket world is waiting for March 9 to witness the classic grand finale of the tournament.
