In a massive news for Indian cricket fans, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced that the pre-season customary Indian Premier League (IPL) captains' meet, is scheduled to happen on March 20th. The news was shared with the franchises via email, as all the captains and team managers have been invited for this event.

BCCI Schedules Captains' Meet Ahead Of IPL 2025

Generally a customary meet between captains every year, this year the event is going to be massive as the BCCI has involved all the captains alongside their team managers for the meet, which will last four hours and to be held at the BCCI's headquarters alongside Taj Hotel in Mumbai.

Normally, the event takes place at the venue of the opening match but this year, the board has decided to schedule it at their Mumbai office, considering there must be something bigger in their mind where photo shoot will be done with all the captains involved.

While the 2025 season is scheduled to begin on the 22nd of March, this customary event will take place on Thursday, March 20th. The email sent to the franchises and managers by the BCCI mentioned that the meeting is more likely to involve a briefing, which might last one hour, while the entire event might conclude inside the four-hour schedule.

Additionally, the BCCI might also inform about the new additions and changes which are likely to come into effect from this season for all the captains and also to ensure that there is transparency among all the teams. Following the briefing and customary photoshoot, the players will be involved with the sponsor activities at the Taj Hotel.

Five IPL Teams To Have New Captains This Season

All ten captains will be present for this event, including Pat Cummins, who is the only foreign captain among the ten franchises. As for Cummins, the Australian all-rounder arrived in Hyderabad on Sunday and will be available for the entire duration of the IPL 2025 despite the World Test Championship final on June 11th.

Moreover, five of the ten franchises in total will have new captains for this season, which includes Axar Patel (DC), Rajat Patidar (RCB), Rishabh Pant (LSG), Shreyas Iyer (PBKS), and Ajinkya Rahane (KKR), to go along with continuing skippers Hardik Pandya (MI), Ruturaj Gaikwad (CSK), Sanju Samson (RR), and Shubman Gill (GT).

As for the IPL, the ten-team extravaganza will begin on March 22nd with Kolkata Knight Riders taking on Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
