Axar Patel played an important role in India's triumphant T20 World Cup 2024 campaign. His all-round abilities shone through, significantly contributing with both ball and bat. 

Throughout the tournament, Axar's consistent performances made him an invaluable asset, helping India maintain their unbeaten streak and secure their second T20 World Cup title.


Axar Patel On Rohit Sharma's Tactical Captaincy 

After India's historic win, Axar Patel in a recent interview, heaped praises on Rohit Sharma and his captaincy. He also mentioned that Rohit's captaincy was tactical which showcased his ability to think strategically and change according to the situation of the game. 

"Rohit Sharma is a brilliant captain. If you observed his captaincy during the World Cup, you wouldn't find a set formula. In some games, I bowled two overs in the PowerPlay, while in others, Jasprit Bumrah bowled early. There wasn't a specific pattern. 

"Similarly, in batting, I didn't always move up the order. In the final, Shivam Dube batted ahead of Hardik Pandya. It was all very tactical, showcasing his ability to think strategically in different situations, determining which player would perform best." 

Talking about the T20 World Cup 2024, he stated that when Heinrich Klaasen played with aggression against me. He further added that Rohit backed and comforted me and such conversations from your captain lift you and keep you motivated on the field. 

"In the final, when Heinrich Klaasen was aggressive against me, Rohit approached me and reassured me, saying, 'It's alright. You bowled your best. If he hits a good shot, there's not much you can do. Just focus on the next ball.' His support and encouragement boosted my confidence. After I completed the over, he tapped my shoulder and said, 'Well done. Don't worry.' 

Axar Patel played a key role in Team India’s triumph in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.He was instrumental with the bat and ball in the United States of America and the West Indies. The southpaw scored 47 runs and took a wicket against South Africa in the final.
