India star batter Shreyas Iyer is reportedly to get a BCCI contract. The right-handed batter will be selected for the upcoming ODI Sri Lanka series, which starts in August.

Meanwhile, the IPL-winning captain has not played international matches for Team India since the India vs. England Test series earlier this year. After Gautam Gambhir was appointed as India's head coach, there have been twists and turns in the country's selection for the upcoming series.

Many players are to be included in the upcoming series plan, as BCCI is all set to announce the squad for both formats, ODI and T20I, against Sri Lanka in a day or two.

Shreyas Iyer Set to Make A Comeback

Iyer played in the first two Test matches of the India vs. England series back in February but was sidelined for the last three due to repeated back problems. He was later released from the BCCI’s central contract for not playing in the domestic circuit.

Shreyas Iyer had refused to be featured for Mumbai games in the Ranji Trophy due to back spasms, but the BCCI medical team found no issues with his back. This resulted in the surprise omission of Iyer from the central contract.

According to the reports from Indian Express, the right-handed is expected to get back his central contract as it is expected he will be a part of the three-match ODI series.

So far in his ODI career, the Mumbai lad has scored 2383 runs in 59 matches at a strike rate of 101.27, including 5 hundreds and 18 half-centuries.
