England's Test vice-captain, Ollie Pope, slammed his sixth Test century in the Trent Bridge Test against West Indies on Thursday evening. Pope eventually got dismissed on 121 after facing 167 deliveries, and thanks to him, England find themselves in a dominating position already in the Test match.

Pope came to the crease in the first over of the match after Zak Crawley got out on the third ball on the day. The English number three first played an impressive hand when Ben Duckett was displaying his grandeur batting. But, Duckett's dismissal - a 71 off 51 balls - saw Pope taking the charge, with partnerships with Joe Root (37), Harry Brook (59) and Ben Stokes (80).

The 26-year-old right-handed batter, who scored his last hundred versus India in the Hyderabad Test earlier in the year, got his feat in the 47th over when he turned a bumper from Jayden Seales in the leg-side for a single to get to his hundred.

After getting a couple of lifelines, Pope was eventually dismissed by Alzarri Joseph after Kavem Hodge plucked the ball in the slips as the batter went hard on the cover drive.

West Indies, then, bagged the wickets of Ben Stokes (69) and Jamie Smith (36), but the home side's score went past 400 in the 87th over of Day 1. Currently, Chris Woakes and Mark Wood are batting in the middle.
