Ahead of the impending 2024 T20 World Cup, USA cricket team rocked a full strength Bangladesh side as they beat them by five wickets to produce a massive upset in the three-game series opener.

The USA, the partial host of the upcoming T20 World Cup, has begun its preparations for the important and pivotal ICC event on a high note. They faced a full member Test playing nation Bangladesh in a three game T20I series earlier today and produced an unthinkable upset.

Batting first, the USA restricted Bangladesh to 153 runs after Harmeet Singh and Saurabh Netravalkar bowled impressive spells with 6.80 economy.

While Bangladesh thought the total was enough, Harmeet Singh caught the Asian side completely off guard.

While Bangladesh thought the total was enough, Harmeet Singh caught the Asian side completely off guard.

With over 50 runs needed off the final four overs, Harmeet Singh went after Bangladesh’s strike bowler Mustafizur Rahman to slam 17 runs off his 17th over. Harmeet once again owned Rahman with a 15 runs 19th over as the USA team chased down the 154 runs total with 3 balls to spare.

Harmeet Singh’s 13 ball 33 runs knock proved to be heroic as the USA produced a massive upset just days before the T20 World Cup commencement.

Meanwhile, cricket fans were in utter disbelief at the perplexing results. While some social media users mocked Bangladesh for the humiliating defeat, a few congratulated the USA team for their resilience and grit against a full-member nation.

Indeed, the USA will be a team to watch out for in the upcoming T20 World Cup. They are being placed in Group A alongside India, Pakistan, Canada and Ireland.
