England kicked off their Super 8 campaign with an impressive 8-wicket victory against the West Indies, against co-hosts and two-time champions.

After winning the toss, Jos Buttler chose to bowl first, a decision that was backed by a disciplined performance from the English bowlers. The bowlers, particularly the spinners, managed to restrict West Indies to 180/4 in their 20 overs.

Phil Salt and Jos Buttler provided England with a solid start, putting up a 67-run partnership for the first wicket. Jonny Bairstow, batting at number 4, delivered his best T20 World Cup performance, staying unbeaten with 48 runs off 26 balls, including 5 fours and 2 sixes.

Phil Salt was the star of the show, hitting 7 boundaries in a row (4 fours and 3 sixes) and amassing 30 runs off the 16th over bowled by Romario Shepherd. Salt finished with an unbeaten 87 off 47 deliveries that led England to a comprehensive victory.

After playing explosive innings, Phil Salt was awarded as the man of the match and he stated that it feels great to contribute to the team. He also noted that it was tough to play the spin but after the chase was constructed it was easy to play on the pitch.

"Just happy to contribute to the team's win.It was a little bit tougher with the spin in the middle overs. It was about constructing the chase. If I didn't take on the spinners, I had to take on the pacers in the later stage. There are a lot of factors. You have to face many balls and hit those boundaries. It was a pretty good wicket to bat on." Philip Salt Said.

Among the West Indian bowlers, Roston Chase was the most effective, claiming Buttler's wicket and giving away only 19 runs in his 3-over spell.

Gudakesh Motie (0/32) and Akeal Hosein (0/35), the left-arm spinners, tried to contain the English batters but faced a tough challenge as England cruised to a convincing win.
