Gautam Gambhir Clears Head Coach Interview; Official Announcement To Be Made On This Day

Earlier today, reports surfaced suggesting that two-time World Cup winner, Gautam Gambhir will be interviewed by Cricket Advisory Committee of BCCI for the India's head coach role, this morning. 

As per a fresh report by PTI, Gambhir did appear in the round one of the interview and now another round has been scheduled which in all likeliness take place tomorrow.

Reportedly, the former Indian batter is believed to be the only candidate who is in contention and the announcement of his name is a mere formality which could happen in the next 48 hours.

The cricket world is abuzz with the rumor that Gambhir is the sole contender in the race. Previously, in an interview Jay Shah quashed the reports of BCCI approaching any foreign player like Ricky Ponting, Justin Langer for the head coach position. He further explained that the reason behind this was that, India's intricate domestic circuit can best be understood by an Indian.

The requirements from the new head coach of the Team India:

• The candidate “must be willing to meet work expectations and pressures associated with handling marquee athletes.”
• They should help in “developing a world-class Indian cricket team which delivers sustained success in all conditions and formats, inspiring current and future generations of cricketers and stakeholders with their approach to the game.

Meanwhile, it is understood that secretary Jay Shah will apprise the members about the coach selection process before the final announcement is made.
