Indian cricket team's star batter Rohit Sharma has emphasized the need to move on from the euphoria of their T20 World Cup victory, focusing instead on the challenging assignments ahead.

With a new journey beginning under head coach Gautam Gambhir, Rohit's side faces a packed season, including the Champions Trophy next year.

In an interview ahead of the first ODI match against Sri Lanka, Rohit expressed his feelings after returning home as a World Cup winner.

It was a great feeling to come back: Rohit Sharma

"I had a good time off from cricket. It was a great feeling to come back home after winning the World Cup...what we experienced in Delhi and Mumbai. But yeah, now we have to move on, cricket moves on," he said, acknowledging the need to look forward.

Rohit, who retired from T20Is after the triumph, stressed that the team must adopt a similar approach as they did after last year's 50-over World Cup defeat.

"Whatever we have done in the past, that was good for that particular period of time, but time keeps moving forward and we also need to keep moving forward," he added.

With a three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka starting on August 2, Rohit will play under Gambhir's guidance for the first time. He remains optimistic, citing plenty to look forward to, including a big tournament coming up.
