On the road to the second Test, Ben Stokes and Co. got a massive boost. Ending a four-year-long wait, English pacer Jofra Archer is making his return in the longest format of the game.

With Jofra Archer back in the squad, former England skipper Nasser Hussain feels the team may have rushed his return. He believes it would’ve been wiser to bring the speedster in for the third Test instead.

Nasser Hussain Addresses Archer's Comeback As A Risky Move

Before stepping into the second Test, England got a major lift with Jofra Archer’s arrival in the squad. As he is set for a comeback after four years, former England captain Nasser Hussain raised his eyebrows. Speaking to Sky Sports, he suggested that bringing him back for the third Test would’ve been a smarter move for the team.

“I think it's too much of a risk this week, but it may have gone so well - I don't know Jofra Archer's body - it may have gone so well that they say 'we'll play you this week'. Then the problem is, who do you leave out?” he said.

“I do think it is a gamble worth taking, I just don't know if it's worth taking this week. I would do it a week after at Lord's,” he added.

Questions Timing Of His Comeback

After recovering from a long injury, Jofra Archer made a red-ball return in the County Cricket recently. While facing Durham, he conceded 32 runs in 18 overs and secured 1 wicket. Despite this, Nasser Hussain believes England should’ve waited a bit longer to unleash the “prime” Archer.

“He's only just made his first-class comeback for Sussex for four years this week, where he bowled 18 overs. When Archer's fully fit, he is one of the best in the world. He is absolutely box office, he has that raw pace. But unfortunately for him, he hasn't been fully fit for a very long time. So it is a gamble,” he said.

“What is the hurry when we've waited so long? Why not wait another week just to make sure? Obviously, they've got one eye on the future as well. It's not just about Edgbaston and Lord's and this series. We know what's coming up next, and they would love to have Archer involved Down Under,” he added.

With a 1-0 lead, England is entering the second Test match of the series, and Jofra Archer’s return added a massive boost to the team. With a power-packed squad, they’ll be aiming for another commanding win to tighten their grip on the series.
