A month full of thrills has finally come to an end as the India Women defeated the South Africa Women's side in the Women’s World Cup 2025 final and lifted the highly anticipated trophy. As the world is hailing Women in Blue’s brilliance, the Protea Women won hearts with their exceptional effort throughout the tournament.
After Laura Wolvaardt and Co. ended up as the runners-up, the ICC Chairman Jay Shah showered praise on them. He applauded the entire Protea squad and singled out Wolvaardt for her remarkable leadership.

After years, India hosted the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025, and the ending couldn’t have been better. Defying all the odds, they made their way to the final and lifted the trophy after beating South Africa Women by 52 runs. Even the Protea women ended up with a heartbreaking defeat, their effort throughout the tournament won of millions of heart.
Aiming for their maiden Women’s World Trophy, they stepped into the final game, but even after exceptional efforts, things didn’t follow their route. But skipper Laura Wolvaardt led the side from the front with her exceptional form. Despite the heartbreaking end, ICC Chairman Jay Shah praised them for their excellence.

Crowd support proves women’s cricket is rising stronger than ever
As the recently ended edition of the Women’s ODI World Cup made its way towards the Indian subcontinent, a few could have imagined how crowd would be crazy for the tournament. The stands of each stadium spoke louder about how women’s cricket is making its place. Reflecting on the overwhelming support, Jay Shah remarked that the future of the women’s game has never looked brighter.
“The crowds, the record audiences and the standard of play at @cricketworldcup showed how bright the future of the women’s game is!” Shah added.
Coming to the victory, the Indian women’s side couldn’t have a better moment to live in. After a fiery start and a brief stumble mid-journey, Harmanpreet Kaur and her warriors rose when it mattered most. After defeating the Australia Women in the semifinal, they made their way into the final and lifted their maiden trophy with a 52-run victory.
