Dear Women in Blue,

November 19, 2023, was the day when a sea of blue turned silent. One lakh fans at the Narendra Modi Stadium watched in disbelief as Australia’s brilliance crushed 1.4 billion dreams. But time heals everything. Making the fact true, 1.4 billion Indian fans witnessed a different side of November in 2025.

Since the Women’s World Cup 2025 started taking place on Indian soil, the nation stitched its broken dream with hopes. We, the billions of Indian fans, had our full faith in our Tigresses. With every victory, we roared in joy; with every setback, we stood taller beside you—millions of hearts beating as one, miles apart yet bound by unshakable faith.

We believed in our own Harman, Smriti, Jemi, Richa, Deepti, and others. Yes, you lifted the coveted trophy last night, and the nation lit up in a delayed Diwali of joy. Yes, you turned our dream into reality, but the journey was nothing short of a lesson. For a month, you played fearless cricket, and we learned how to face life’s fiercest bouncers with the same courage.

When you marched into the knockouts to face Australia Women, an entire nation held its breath, praying that the ghost of 2023 wouldn’t return. As God never rejects a prayer, he sent Jemimah Rodrigues as his own warrior. The girl who never let anyone have a dull moment was hiding millions of pains behind the sweet smile.

Fighting against the mighty Aussies, every shot of our own Lil J made us learn to believe in ourselves when things go wrong in life. When she raised her bat for that century, we were reminded that destiny always rewards relentless effort. But when Amanjot Kaur smashed the last boundary, securing our final berth, the nation came on the streets to celebrate the historic triumph of the nation’s own daughters.

When Pratika Rawal ruled out because of  the injury, tears rolled down our faces too, but Shafali Verma showed us a great thing that comes in life as an opportunity, and we should embrace it with all our courage. She seized the moment with fearless fire, and the final clash became proof that when courage meets opportunity, greatness is born.

Before you all stepped into the historic DY Patil Stadium, we had faith in 11 warriors, and fingers were crossed. From Shafali-Smriti’s mighty start, we held our breath. With every boundary, we felt the pressure in our nerves, even sitting miles away. As our bowlers took charge in the second innings, victory was within sight, but every delivery made 1.4 billion hearts skip a beat.

Tension hung thick, seconds felt like centuries, yet faith never wavered. And then, as the clock struck midnight, destiny arrived, our captain clutched the most important catch of her career, and Deepti Sharma delivered the moment we had waited 14 long years to live again.

Dear Captain Harman, this may have been just a campaign for the world, but for us, it was another name of belief, faith, and the moment of glory that we had wished for the ages. The world may have had seven wonders, we have our own eleven of it. We jumped in the air in every victory, our hearts ached with every drop of your tears.

You all thought every Indian girl to dream big, you taught them to be their own dash of luck. Our golden girls have our whole hearts, but leaving out our very own Kabir Khan, Amol Muzumdar, would be unfair. He took charge and made us believe, “Mhari Choriyan Choron Se Kam Hai Ke?”

But after the triumph, it's high time to rewrite the dialogue. From now on, we will proudly say, “Hamare Choriyan Kisi Se Kam Nahi”. On behalf of the entire nation, we are saying, “Thank You, Harmanpreet Kaur and Co. For Making Us ‘BELIEVE’ Again”. Thank You For All The Memories. Thank You For Rewriting The History”. And to our Women in Blue, “no matter what, we’ve got your back. Today. Tomorrow. Forever.”

With endless pride,

A Grateful Nation
