For the first time in their history, the Indian Women’s team captured the World Cup trophy by beating South Africa in the finals. The hosts came into the match as the firm favourites and they lived up to the hype as Harmanpreet Kaur and her girls delivered a match-winning performance to seal the win and the cup.

The credit should be given to each and every player of the team, as they performed exceptionally well, but there was also an unsung hero who should be given a little more credit for the victory and that person is the Indian head coach, Amol Muzumdar.

The similarities between Muzumdar and Kabir Khan (Chak de India)

He doesn’t grab much limelight, but after India’s win, fans have started to compare him with Shah Rukh Khan from the movie Chak de India. The duo shares a similar story and has had the same redemption arc.

In the movie, Kabir Khan (Shah Rukh Khan) had a decent Hockey career, but his career was marred with controversies, and he was also called a “traitor.” Kabir Khan faced humiliation from everywhere, but he didn’t give up, as he decided to give Hockey one more chance and he came back to coach the India Women’s team.

The side was dysfunctional, needed motivation, and hardly got support from the authorities. However, Kabir Khan worked hard with the team, instilled his ideologies and miracle took place as the Women’s team defeated Australia to win the World title.

In real life, Muzumdar was an outstanding domestic cricketer as he piled on truckloads of runs, but luck was not with him as the batter was never selected for India due to the presence of Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman, who were a key part of the Indian middle order.

However, Muzumdar became the head coach of the Indian Women’s team and had his own redemption arc. The Indian team was at an all-time low as he instilled confidence and gave a free hand to all his players as the Women’s side enjoyed cricket under his guidance and for the first time in history, they became World champions.
