India wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan hailed the team's bowlers, especially Mohammed Siraj, whose six-wicket haul rattled Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup 2023 final.

India used only four bowlers on the day, as Sri Lanka batted only 15.1 overs before getting bowled out for their second-lowest ODI total (50) and 10th overall amongst all the sides.

Jasprit Bumrah started off the match with a wicket in the very first over. Siraj followed up with the next six wickets, while Hardik Pandya took the remaining three as the hosts were knocked over at R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo.

Ishan Kishan, who opened for India in the second innings, praised the pacers for restricting Sri Lanka to a below-par score.

Kishan also talked about the pitch, mentioning how it was a bit different than the ones where India played the rest of their Asia Cup games. He added that the team was prepared for the challenges.

"The bowlers were on point today. I would like to give credit to the bowlers. Siraj and Bumrah. It's not easy to bat in the second innings. We did play a few matches here and know the pitch. Today, it was slightly different. But we were ready for any challenges. We knew that it was not an easy wicket to bat second," Kishan said in an interview after the match.

Interestingly, India had been using Kishan in the middle-order until the final. He opened today and scored 23 runs off 18 deliveries. On his promotion, he added:

"I always love to open, the total wasn't much, so it was a big yes (when asked to open) from my side. Can't do much when you have only 50 runs on the board. But thanks to the skipper. We know our roles, we know how to prepare for the World Cup. We are playing against Australia, and I will be batting in the middle-order."

Indian completed the run-chase in just 6.1 overs without any loss of wicket. The Men in Blue have now put their hands on the Asia Cup title for the eighth time with the comprehensive victory.
