LSG all-rounder Mitchell Marsh remains optimistic about his team’s chances against the dangerous Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) side. Despite LSG’s depleted bowling attack, Marsh has backed the current squad to do the job.
After losing a close thriller to DC in their first match of the IPL 2025 season, LSG will take on SRH in the upcoming clash. SRH are off to a flyer start after they hit 286 runs against RR in their opening game.
Moreover, LSG is struggling with injury woes as their key blowers, including Mayank Yadav and Mohsin Khan are injured.
Mitchell Marsh Backs LSG Against SRH
LSG began their campaign with a loss to Delhi Capitals and is dealing with multiple injury setbacks. Key pacers Mayank Yadav and Akash Deep are sidelined due to lower-back injuries, while Avesh Khan is returning from a knee injury.
Adding to the woes, Mohsin Khan was ruled out before the tournament began and replaced by Shardul Thakur. Marsh himself is playing purely as a batter due to a back issue.
Regardless, acknowledging the absence of several key bowlers, Marsh backed the available players to step up.
'Yeah, we have a few guys out, no doubt, but I think we have assembled a really solid squad. There is no doubt that in time we will welcome guys back into the team who have a bit of experience with the ball. But we certainly back our [current] bowlers to do the job. I don't see it as a lack of depth,' he told ESPN Cricinfo.
Moreover, when asked about LSG’s strategy to counter SRH, Marsh’s response was straightforward.
"To score more runs than them. We know they're going to come hard. I think there are not many T20 teams in the world now that don't go hard from ball one and try to apply as much pressure as they can to a bowling team. So we know we're going to be under pressure at some point," he added.
Mayank Yadav's IPL 2025 Return Delayed
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) supporters will now have to wait longer to witness the exploits of speedster Mayank Yadav, whose comeback has been postponed because of a new injury setback.
Having recovered from a back injury earlier, Yadav has now strained his toe, which will keep him away from the field for a little while longer in IPL 2025.
LSG skipper Justin Langer has officially confirmed that the pacer now wants a comeback only in the "back end" of the tournament.
