Shardul Thakur likely to replace Mohsin Khan [Source: @CricCrazyJohns/X]
In a significant development, ace Indian all-rounder Shardul Thakur is all set to join Lucknow Super Giants as a replacement for Mohsin Khan. Notably, Mohsin, known for his excellent bowling skills, has been struggling with a calf strain, which he picked up as soon as he resumed bowling in LSG training camp.
Shardul Thakur To Be Back In IPL 2025 As Replacement
It's worth mentioning that Shardul Thakur had a base price of INR 2 Crores; however, he was one of the unsold players in last year's mega auction. So, Mohsin's injury comes as a blessing in disguise for Shardul, paving the way for his wildcard entry into the IPL 2025.
Shardul, who was spotted training with the LSG players, will now travel with the team to Visakhapatnam, where the SuperGiants will take on Delhi Capitals in their opening encounter.
He has played 95 matches, scalping 94 wickets at an average of 30.52 and a strike rate of 19.85. Besides striking at crucial junctures, Shardul can be a valuable asset for LSG with his handy lower-order cameos.
Despite being talented, Mohsin Khan has suffered frequent injury setbacks in his career. An ACL injury sidelined him from action before another calf strain led to his exclusion from the IPL.
Mayank Yadav Not Full Fit Yet
Apart from Mohsin, Mayank Yadav is another LSG player, whose IPL 2025 participation has been jeopardised by injury. Renowned for his ability to rattle the batters with sheer pace, Mayank is still far from recovering from a back injury and receiving fitness clearance for the showpiece event.
