In a thrilling encounter at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, Gujarat Titans (GT) clinched a crucial victory against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 59th match of IPL 2024. Winning the toss, CSK opted to bowl but failed to contain GT's formidable batting lineup.

GT posted a formidable total of 231/3 in their allotted 20 overs, fuelled by a sensational opening partnership between Sai Sudharsan and skipper Shubman Gill.

Shubman Gill  Reflects on Must-Win Game Against CSK

"Just a cramp nothing else. When you have a big crowd behind you batting becomes easier. The freeness of batting. Didn't have any target in mind. We were maximizing every opportunity we had in front of us," expressed Gill, reflecting on his outstanding century.

Gill's sentiment echoed the team's camaraderie and exceptional understanding, which propelled them to their best-ever opening partnership. Mohit Sharma's stellar bowling performance, backed by other bowlers, restricted CSK's chase, ultimately leading GT to a 35-run victory.

"In terms of numbers, it is the best opening partnership for GT. Mohit Bhai has done this for us in the past couple of years. He has done tremendously well for us," Gill praised Sharma's contribution.

"We have the last couple of games remaining and we will be able to turn this around," Gill added optimistically, focusing on GT's playoff aspirations.

Shubman Gill's masterful innings of 104 runs off 55 balls earned him the well-deserved Player of the Match award, showcasing his dominance with 9 fours and 6 sixes.

GT's triumph places them in 8th position on the points table, rejuvenating their playoff hopes. However, Gill acknowledged, "250 was there for us to be taking. We were 10-15 runs short."

With their next encounter against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) looming on May 13th at the same venue, GT remains determined to carry forward their winning momentum and secure a playoff berth.
