India star all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin is all set to lead India’s spin attack in the upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh, starting on September 19, 2024, and will take place at his home ground, MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Ashwin, with an impressive 516 wickets in 100 Test matches, is a cricketing legend in his own right. However, ahead of the series, he has chosen to shower praise on his teammate, Jasprit Bumrah.

Ravichandran Ashwin Praises For Bumrah

In a candid conversation with journalist Vimal Kumar on his YouTube channel, Ravichandran Ashwin called Bumrah the most valuable Indian cricketer right now. Known for his tactical mind and brilliant skills, Ashwin expressed his admiration for Bumrah, describing him as a "once-in-a-generation bowler."

Ashwin, hailing from Chennai, stated that he is thrilled to see India, which is traditionally a country that celebrates its batsmen, giving Bumrah the recognition he deserves. He highlighted that bowlers in India often don’t receive the same level of adoration as batters, but Bumrah’s accomplishments have broken that trend.

“India has always been the country that is batsman-dominated, and it’s never going to change. But I am so glad and happy that we are celebrating Jasprit Bumrah. He is a once-in-a-generation bowler. We should celebrate him even more. We Chennai people appreciate bowlers a lot. He was here for an event as a chief guest 4-5 days ago. We gave him a Rajni treatment. We treat bowlers very nicely. He should be treated as a champion. I don’t want to name it, but Bumrah is the most valuable Indian cricketer right now,” R Ashwin said.

Jasprit Bumrah’s Comeback And Stellar Performance

Jasprit Bumrah, who had been sidelined for some time due to a back injury, made a strong return to competitive cricket in 2023. His performances since have been nothing short of extraordinary. In the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup, Bumrah was instrumental in India lifting their first ICC trophy in 11 years.

His 15 wickets in eight matches earned him the Player of the Series award, solidifying his status as one of the world’s top fast bowlers.
