India have been defeated by Sri Lanka by a 2-0 margin in a three match ODI series. After white washing Sri Lankan in the T20I series, India would have hoped to repeat in the ODIs, but the batting unit of the team disappointed and as a result they ended on the losing side.

Let us move ahead and analyse the performance of each Indian player in the series.

1. Rohit Sharma - 8.5/10

With 157 runs in three matches, Rohit Sharma emerged as the best batter for the Indian team in the series. He played in his own aggressive style and was the most consistent of the Indian batters. However, a couple of marks are deducted because India ended up losing the series in his captaincy.

2. Shubman Gill - 3/10

The young Indian opener struggled to get going in the series. Barring the second ODI, Shubman Gill failed to get going in the other two games. His inability to perform in the series created added pressure on Rohit to play the role of aggressor, resulting in the untimely end to a couple of his knocks.

3. Virat Kohli - 3/10

The Star Indian batter failed to deliver throughout the series. With the kind of record Virat Kohli has against Sri Lanka it was expected that he will emerge as the top run-scorer of the tournament. However, he failed when the team needed him to solidify the innings and hence he gets a 3/10 for the series.

4. Washington Sundar - 5/10

The young Indian all-rounder delivered with the ball in a couple of games and also looked good with the bat in the final ODI. However, Washington Sundar failed to have an impact that could have turned the game in India's favour.

5. Axar Patel - 5/10

This Indian all-rounder played a crucial role in India's T20 World Cup 2024 win. Axar Patel played a decent role with both the bat and the ball in this series versus Sri Lanka. However, it was no where close to the expectations.

6. Shreyas Iyer - 2/10

With the ICC Champions Trophy slated to take place in 2025, India are trying to form a new team in which Shreyas Iyer plays a key role in the middle-order. However, he was no where close to his best in this series and had an average of just 12.66

7. Shivam Dube - 2/10

After a stellar show in the IPL 2024, Shivam Dube made his way back into the limited overs scheme of Indian cricket. However, he failed to play the role that was expected of him as a good player of spin.

8. Mohammed Siraj - 1.5/10

The Indian pacer is known for his brilliant numbers against Sri Lanka. It was expected that Mohammed Siraj will lead the Indian bowling contingent in this series. However, he failed to pick up the initial wickets with the new ball that is expected of him and also failed to make comebacks in the death overs.

9. Kuldeep Yadav - 3/10

With assistance available for the spinners on the Colombo track, it was expected that Kuldeep Yadav will turn out to be the key man for the Indian bowling. However, despite getting help from the wicket, he missed the cutting edge in the series.

10. KL Rahul - 2.5/10

It is believed that KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer will be the pillars in the middle order for the Indian team that will play in the ICC Champions trophy 2025. However, KL Rahul failed to deliver under pressure during the series and was one of the biggest disappointments for the team in the series.

11. Arshdeep Singh - 1/10

The left-arm pacer failed as in his role as one of the lead bowlers of the team. Arshdeep Singh's bowling looked flat for most part and all he could managed was a couple of wickets in the two games that he played. Besides, his failure with the ball, Arshdeep's brain fade moment in the first ODI cost India the game and with that the series.

12. Riyan Parag - 4/10

Riyan Parag had a partially successful audition to be a part of the 2025 Champions Trophy team. He bowled brilliantly and gave the management one more option to ponder upon, who can add flexibility and dynamism to the Indian line-up. However, he failed to deliver with the bat and hence gets a 4/10.

13. Rishabh Pant - 1.5/10

The left-handed keeper batter looked sloppy with the gloves behind the stumps and also struggled with the bat in the only match he played. Rishabh Pant's abilities in this format might come under scrutiny after this show.
