Australian batting sensation Meg Lanning, representing London Spirit in The Hundred 2024 women's competition, had a challenging outing at Trent Bridge on August 7. Despite a promising start, Lanning couldn't convert her effort into a substantial score, departing after a modest 23 runs.

The crucial moment in London Spirit's innings came when Trent Rockets' Alana King was introduced into the attack. King bowled a fuller length delivery angling outside off, tempting Lanning to go over the top.

However, Lanning only managed to get the inner half of her bat on the ball, resulting in a straightforward catch to the mid-on fielder. This dismissal was a significant blow to London Spirit's chase.

London Spirit, led by Heather Knight, was tasked with chasing down a target of 159 set by Trent Rockets. Unfortunately, Lanning's early departure set the tone for a challenging chase.

Despite some resistance from the middle and lower order, the team fell short of the target, managing to score only 128 runs in their allotted balls.

Trent Rockets emerged victorious by 31 runs, showcasing a well-rounded performance both with the bat and the ball.
