India’s bowling attack has the firepower to outwit England’s rampaging batting line-up, according to former paceman and current Gujarat Titans coach Ashish Nehra. The Indian cricket team is currently training in England to prepare themselves for the forthcoming five-match Test challenge against the hosts.

It is worth noting that Team India has not won a single Test series in England since clinching the 2007 rubber by a 1-0 margin, doing so under the leadership of Rahul Dravid.

England Tours Always Challenging, Says Nehra

Former Indian fast bowler Ashish Nehra said that England tours are “always challenging” for visiting teams. However, the cricketer-turned-coach also believes that such challenges only add to the thrill, making it all the more fun and rewarding for players.

Moreover, Nehra claimed that Indian players are capable of adapting to the English conditions, and India’s bowling attack already has the “experience and stability” to derail England’s aggressive batting approach. As quoted by the Times of India, Ashish Nehra said:

“To me, England tour is always challenging but it's great fun as well. Adapting to the conditions will be the key and I am sure our players are capable of doing that. Bowling wise we have the experience and stability.”

Compatible to Ashish Nehra’s claims, India’s spin attack will be helmed by the experienced Ravindra Jadeja, and the pace cartel will be led by ace speedster Jasprit Bumrah. The legendary Indian fast bowler will be accompanied by Mohammed Siraj, Shardul Thakur, Akash Deep, Prasidh Krishna and uncapped Arshdeep Singh.

India’s first Test against England will be played between June 20 and June 24 at Headingley in Leeds later this month.

Notably, the series marks India’s first Test assignment since the retirements of legendary campaigners like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin.
