With less than 24 hours left for the marquee India-Pakistan clash, the tension is high among fans as one of the biggest rivalries in cricket history is set to enter round 2 of the Asia Cup 2023. However, the ambitious Indian batter Shubman Gill made a surprising remark before the game that has caught the attention of netizens.

Gill, speaking in the press conference, praised the Pakistani skipper Babar Azam for his quality with the bat as he admitted to admiring the right-hander for his pure class. The Indian opener also mentioned that they all follow him to know what exceptional he is doing to score runs effectively across the continents.

"Yes, we definitely follow him. When a player is doing well, everyone watches him to find out why they are doing so well, what their speciality is. The same thing goes for Babar. He is a world-class player, and we all do admire him."

Later, he was asked a question on why the Indian batters struggle against Pakistan's left-arm pacers, to which the youngster replied that their counterparts possess some of the best pacers in the world and because they don't play them often, difficulties arise over time.

"When you are playing at this level, you play left-armer pacers previously at some point in your career. We do not play Pakistan that much as compared to the other sides. They have a quality bowling attack. When you do not face such a bowling attack frequently and are not used to it, it makes a difference."

Meanwhile, Babar has been in terrific form in this Asia Cup, where he slammed 151 against Nepal and is among the highest runs scorers of the tournament.

Also, the mutual respect between players of both nations is pretty common as they often exchange pleasantries around the game. Now, it will be interesting to see who comes on top in this game to be played on the 10th of September after the first game between the sides was washed out.
