Triple Centurion Indian Batter Joins Northamptonshire After Prithvi Shaw

Only the second Indian after Virender Sehwag to smash a triple century in international cricket, Karun Nair has been absent for long from the national side. However, his domestic cricket exploits are enough to keep him in the reckoning as the Karnataka-batter (who has now joined Vidharbha) has managed to bag a county deal with Northamptonshire for three remaining games of the season, replacing Sam Whiteman.

This comes after Prithvi Shaw ended his stint with the club as he suffered an injury forcing him to return back to India despite being in terrific form.

Meanwhile, Nair acknowledged that Shaw had a great time here, and that is why he is thrilled to join the club. Adding to this, the right-hander reckoned that he has responsibility in his hands to ensure that his side ends up winning the remaining three games.

"I'm really looking forward to joining Northamptonshire and getting to play in the County Championship. You hear a lot about county cricket, and I know Prithvi really enjoyed his time with the team, so it's exciting to have the opportunity to be involved too.

"Hopefully, I can make an impact for the team while I'm there, that's the main thing for me. It's about doing as much as I can to help the team get some wins in these last three games."

The 31-year-old reached the UK on Friday and will join up with his team before their next game against Warwickshire on Sunday.

With 85 First-class games under his belt, Nair will hope that his side, Northamptonshire, ends up winning the three games as they require 26 points to ensure that they stay ahead either of Middlesex or Kent on the County Championship Division 1 Table to avoid relegation.
