The cricketing world is abuzz with anticipation as Pakistan's captain, Babar Azam, exudes confidence in his team's ability to outshine India in the forthcoming Asia Cup Super 4 encounter, set to take place in Colombo on Sunday, September 10.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference today, Azam shared his optimism, citing his team's familiarity with Sri Lankan conditions as a potential game-changer.

In recent months, several Pakistani players have been actively involved in Sri Lanka, gaining invaluable experience in the local conditions. This exposure includes the July Test series, participation in the Lanka Premier League (LPL), and intense bilateral ODIs against Afghanistan. Azam believes that this extensive time spent on Sri Lankan soil has put Pakistan in a strong position heading into the critical Super 4 clash.

'We hold an edge over India'- Babar Azam

"Given the continuous cricket we are playing both in Pakistan and Sri Lanka, you can say that we hold an edge (over India). We have been playing here in Sri Lanka for the past two months or so. We have played Tests, we played a series against Afghanistan and then the LPL... So it can be said that we have an advantage," Babar said.

Addressing concerns about the weather, Azam displayed a calm demeanour and said,

"We are using every bit of opportunity, trying to keep players relaxed as we are playing a lot of cricket. No extra pressure ahead of India vs Pakistan game. Weather is not in our hands, it was rain prediction today too but it's a sunny day here, so you never know."

The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) added an extra layer of intrigue to the match by announcing an exclusive reserve day for the India-Pakistan Super 4 encounter. This decision comes in light of unpredictable weather patterns in the Sri Lankan capital during the Super 4 stage.

While the India-Pakistan fixture enjoys the added security of a reserve day, the same privilege will not extend to the other matches, even though rain is predicted during the Super 4 phase.
