Relatively new Indian Premier League (IPL) side Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), after changing their head coach to Australian Justin Langer from Andy Flower a few weeks back, have now made another significant change to their backroom coaching staff. With already a plethora of names in their armoury, former Australian and Bangladesh coach Sridharan Sriram has been included in the side as assistant coach for the 2024 season.

This news comes after it was previously reported that Langer will join the side, taking over the mantle from Flower, who has now linked up with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) as their head coach.

To the unversed, the side already boasts of some high-profile coaches in the form of Vijay Dahiya and Pravin Tambe as assistant and spin bowling coach, respectively, with Proteas duo of Morne Morkel and Jonty Rhodes who will don the hat of pace bowling coach and fielding coach in their individual departments.

Not to forget the role of the former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir, who will continue with his role as the Global Mentor of the side despite previous rumours of him joining Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

“Sridharan Sriram brings with him extensive coaching experience. In his tenure with the Bangladesh men’s national T-20 team, he skilfully led them to secure two remarkable victories in the Super-12s of the (2022) T-20 World Cup. RPSG Sports and Lucknow Super Giants are thrilled to welcome the seasoned coach and looking forward to an exciting journey ahead!” LSG website mentioned.

Meanwhile, Sriram has had a plethora of experience in the coaching department as he has coached the Australian side during the 2021-22 season, apart from previously linking with them during the 2019 Ashes, Bangladesh series 2015 and India series in 2018.

Later, he managed to bag a deal with the Bangladesh side, where he was working with them as the technical consultant in the T20 format.

Previously, in 2019, he even got the gig with the RCB side as the batting and spin bowling coach for a few seasons until last year. Apart from all this, he had even earned the distinction of ECB Level-3 Head Coach back in 2008, adding to his well-presented repertoire.

With all the staff announcements completed for the LSG side, they would now be working to ensure that they have their plans ready for the IPL auction that will take place in December.
