The second ODI between South Africa and Australia has started off on a positive note for Aussies, as Travis Head slammed fifty in just 26 balls. Warner was pretty good as well and compiled a brisk fifty which will give him a lot of confidence going into ahead in the series and the all-important World Cup. The openers compiled a powerful 109-run opening stand before Shamsi got rid of Head in the 12th over, ending Southpaw's blistering knock of 64 off just 36 balls.

Earlier, South Africa won the toss and decided to bowl first but Head and Warner started going from the onset and the trio of Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje and Marco Jansen were taken to cleaners. Head especially was belligerent and the Proteas seem to be short of ideas when Head was going after their famed pace attack.

Tabraiz Shamsi Stages South African Fightback

Head has been in great form across formats in recent times and these are great signs for Australia leading into the World Cup. As far as South Africa in concerned, Tabraiz Shamsi has brought some respite for them and got Head and Mitchell Marsh on consecutive deliveries in the 12th over to stage a South African fightback.

At the time of writing, Australia are 147-2 at the end of 18 overs with Warner batting on 58 off 55 balls and Labuschagne batting on 21 off 17 balls. The stage is set for Australia to go big and let's see how the battle unfolds as South Africa look to make more inroads in front of their passionate home crowd.
