Day 1 of the ongoing third Test between India and England kicked off with Team India handing out debuts to Sarfaraz Khan and Dhuv Jurel. Both players received their respective caps from former legend Anil Kumble and wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik.

Khan, who has been knocking on the door of India's Test side for the past few years, got his cap numbered 311 from Kumble, who apart from congratulating the player, also had few words of wisdom for the 29-year-old.

Kumble, who played 132 Tests for India, reminded Khan about his journey from age-group cricket to the Test arena while also wishing the youngster good luck, who has had a stellar run playing in First-Class (FC) and List-A cricket.

I know you have done all the hard work - Anil Kumble

"Sarfu, really proud of you, and the way you have come through, I am sure your dad and family will be extremely proud of what you have been able to achieve. I know you have done all the hard work, there is some disappointments but despite that all the runs you have scored, well done to you.

And I am sure, you will have wonderful memories today, the start of a long career, only 310 people have played before you. This is for you, all the best."

Khan, who played in the final of the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2016 under coach Rahul Dravid, stockpiled runs in FC cricket, slamming 3,692 runs in 43 matches with 30 centuries and 10 half-centuries since 2014.

India will hope for Khan to score big runs, when the player turns up to bat against England in the Rajkot Test.
