Sarfaraz Khan Joins Sachin Tendulkar, Shubman Gill In Elite List After Making Test Debut

After years of stockpiling runs in domestic cricket across formats, Mumbai's Sarfaraz Khan received his maiden India Test cap in the ongoing third Test at Rajkot against England.

Khan, who has featured in 45 First-Class (FC) matches, thus joins an elite group of Indian Test players, who averaged over 60 in the domestic red-ball format before making a national debut.

Khan, in 45 FC games, averaged 69.85 with 3,692 runs with 13 hundred and 10 fifties, which puts him alongside the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Praveen Amre, Vinod Kambli, and Rusi Modi, 

Most notable among the list are Tendulkar (70.18) in nine FC matches, Gill (68.78) in 23 FC games, Jaiswal (80.21) in 15 FC ties, and Kambli (88.37) in 27 FC encounters.

Khan along with wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel received their maiden Test caps from former India legends Anil Kumble and Dinesh Karthik, after which the Mumbai-born clicked pictures with father and wife in a heart-warming moment ahead of the start of Day 1.
