Kemar Roach took a hilarious jibe at Australian legend Ricky Ponting as the duo recalled their famous Test match bout in Perth back in 2009. The veteran West Indies pacer, who bounced and bruised the Aussie batting great on the fastest pitch in the world, told Ponting, "you could've dealt with it better".

The conversation took place over a special feature for 'Channel 7' after Day 2 of the D/N pink-ball Test in Brisbane. While Ponting spoke of how discomforting it was to face the express quick back in time, Roach said he just wanted to enjoy his time out there on a WACA surface renowned for its steep bounce.

Ponting funnily reminded Roach "he owes me 1.5 million dollars" as it was his Perth spell which soon fetched him a substantial contract in the Indian Premier League (IPL), before the Caribbean pacer burst out laughing.

Roach Reunites With Ponting Over Perth Hostility

"I have actually said forever, Kemar, he still owes me about 1.5 million dollars because on the back of that (spell), he picked up in the IPL auction straight after," Ponting said.

"I remember telling the boys, he actually bowled a faster spell in Adelaide (during that 2009-10 tour) than Perth."

Notably, the then Aussie skipper was forced to retire hurt after a blow to his elbow from Roach on 23 not out and delayed his arrival to No.9 in the Australian second-innings of the Test match the hosts won by 35 runs.

When asked to share his thoughts, Roach said he just wanted to express himself as the young fast-bowler back in time but also took a jibe stating Ponting should've dealt with those bouncers better than the legend did.

Roach, however, suffered an unfortunate accident soon after his famous Perth burst and had to drop in pace upon comeback. He has since transformed into a wonderful seam and swing bowler for the Calypso Kings.
