KL Rahul attributed the confidence gained after his ageless century on comeback in South Africa towards his skillful and free-flowing 86 made in the first-innings of the Hyderabad Test against England

The experienced Indian middle-order batter, who had produced an astonishing hundred on a treacherous pitch in Centurion, carried the wave of confidence forward and exhibited great footwork and control towards his majestic knock of 86 off 123

Rahul missed out on what should've been another Test hundred after miscueing an attempted big shot on Day 2 but the skill on display, especially in the way he negotiated spinners off the front and the backfoot stood out as the Karnataka lad helped India push to a daunting 436 all out.

KL Rahul Recalls Ton In South Africa

"The 100 in SA has given me some confidence, also having played 6-7 months of cricket since my injury. The aim was to stay positive when I went out to bat. Very different to that of South Africa, a bit of turn, it became slower and slower as the ball went old," Rahul told JioCinema in a post-day interaction

The surface in Hyderabad tested Rahul's resolve and patience as he had to wait for his scoring opportunities on a track keeping low and offering spinners turn off the straight.

"Was a challenge, I had to wait for my opportunity to play shots. Enjoying batting in the middle-order. I did enjoy batting in the top-order for a long time, but here you get some time to put your feet up, watch as to how the ball is doing, what the bowlers are doing and it gives time to plan your innings."

Rahul marked his 50th Test for India with a special innings and justified his temporary promotion to the No.4 slot in the absence of the great Virat Kohli.
