India and Australia are presenting the highest quality of cricket at MCG in the fourth Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. The balance of the game has tilted in favour of both the teams on the first day of the game and as day 1 comes to close the match is brilliantly posied.

Australia won the toss and opted to bat first in the game. The home team made one change to their team from the last match. Nathan McSweeney was rested for this game and Sam Konstas got to make his Test debut in this game.

The 19-year-old batter batted brilliantly on the first session of day 1 and put the home team on the driver's seat. After Konstas was sent back to the hut, Marnus Labuschagne and Usman Khawaja frustrated the Indian team with resilient and proper Test batting.

It was looking like Australia will bat India out of the match in the first innings itself. However, in his return spell Jasprit Bumrah opened the doors for India. The ace Indian pacer picked up three important wickets of Khawaja, Head and Marsh and sezied the momentum for the team.

While all the three wickets were prime examples of Bumrah's class, the wicket of Marsh was particularly a treat to watch of the viewers. Let us look at how Bumrah set up Marsh -

Bumrah vs Marsh - The Set Up

Mitchell Marsh was sent back to the hut in the 69th over of the Australian innings. Bumrah bowled a length delivery to start the over. He followed this one with a fuller ball and then went a bit shorter on the fourth delivery. The Indian wizard was not ready to allow the batter to settle down to a particular length and hence followed it up with another good length delivery.

The continuous variation in length by Bumrah had Marsh confused. The right-handed batter has no clear idea about the thought process of the bowler. The hesistation in Marsh's mind was evident when the next delivery came from Bumrah.

Bumrah vs Marsh - The Execution

On the last ball of the 69th over, Bumrah bowled a back of a length delovery at the off stump line. The ball moved away a touch after pitching and that put the batter in a greater fix. Marsh tried to take on Bumrah and tried to pull the ball. However, he failed to execute the shot and got an outside edge to be taken by Rishabh Pant behind the stumps. This wicket of Marsh was a prime example of how Bumrah thinks and executes his plans for different batters.
