However, the BlackCaps secured a clinical victory in the match, crushing the Lankan lions by five wickets at the iconic M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The victory not only ensured their semifinal berth but also shattered Pakistan's World Cup dream with still one game to go. 

So, ahead of their last league-stage encounter, Pakistan are placed in a precarious situation, needing to execute a monumental task of defeating the Englishmen by 287 runs to overhaul New Zealand's net run rate of +0.743. 

Meanwhile, before Pakistan take on England, legendary seamer Wasim Akram has come up with a hilarious suggestion for them to make it into the semifinal. 

Speaking on popular cricket show 'The Pavilion', Akram quirkily remarked that Pakistan could only get a ticket to the semifinal only if they post a massive total and lock the Englishmen inside their dressing room and get them timed out.

On a serious note, Pakistan's chances of qualifying for the semifinal has been vanished and they would like to finish the tournament on a high note by securing a consolation win over the Englishmen in Kolkata on Saturday.
